„The Directors' Guild of America and the film studios would like to stamp this technology out because it alters their copyrighted material, but it strikes me that since the content on the DVD is in fact untouched (unlike cases where retailers physically edited VHS copies of, say, Titanic to remove Kate Winslet's nude scene) they haven't got a leg to stand on: legally, it's hard to see how ClearPlay is doing anything worse than I am when I press the "Fast Forward" button. Call me naive, but as long as ClearPlay is simply one of a range of options for people buying DVD players then I reckon it's perfectly fine for people to have their entertainment needs catered for, in the same way that I'm glad that there are sites like CAPAlert for those who want a film's content rated according to the criteria that are important to them.
