American Idol 2005

 [Skyzyx.com - Advocacy, Evangelism, and Propaganda for Web Standards] Last year, the top 32 sang in groups of 8 people per week for 4 weeks, before the group got whittled down to the top 12. In the first group of 8, the first person to sing was Diana Degarmo, and the last was Fantasia Barrino. After hearing them sing (and before I'd heard the other 24 contestants sing), I made the "official" prediction to my friends and family that 4-5 months later, Fantasia would finish #1 and Diana would finish #2.

[the Arcadian life, NOT] American Idol: As for the other seasons, I didnt watch the first won, but I think Kelly was a good choice cos she still seems alive in the music business - unlike Ruben. In the second season, I would think Clay would have been more promising, even though at that time I was rooting for Ruben cos..ok, I dont know why. (Ok, I was irrational) I guess, inside, I didnt really mind either of them winning. Ok, next season, LaToya London!

[Smaku.com] Blog-a-tak » 2004 » May: As I watched the two hour finale, by about the halfway point it finally dawned on me that Fantasia was clearly the favourite for America. She’s grown and matured and has had several great performances while Diana - in my opinion - weakened as the final weeks came crawling through. These last couple of weeks made me think Diana was trying to outdo Fantasia by imitating her in her ad libbing and gospil-type style singing; something you should never do if you’re trying to forge your own path, which Diana should have known to do since gospil-style is just not Diana’s cup of tea (although she does do it impressingly well for a 16 year old).

Both Diana and Fantasia were all jitters at the start when Ryan was introducing the two. To make things a little more difficult to judge for the viewers at home, the sound didn’t come through quite the same as in previous weeks. This most likely had to do with the fact that Kodak Theatre was such a larger venue that treated the acoustics much differently than on the regular AI stage.

FANTASIA was GREAT GREAT GREAT AND IF ANYBODY THINKS THAT Diana SANG ANY SONG BETTER THAN FANTASIA THEY ARE JUST JEALOUS! FANTASIA IS AN AMERICAN IDOL AND SHE DESERVED THAT TITLE! JUST LIKE PAULA SAID SHE DIDN’T NEED THAT COMPETITION, Clyde Davis said he would sign her if he heard her sing in a basement in Kansas, Simon said she was the the best Idol of all around the world, Randy said she was Brilliant BRILLIANT BRILLIANT, and I say he had no competition she sang TINA Turner Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston and sounded outstanding!

You don't have to be the best singer, it's all about public appeal. Jasmine didn't have the best voice, so what? She reflected what was clean and refreshing, she got a fair bashing based on her singing talents which I suppose was to be expected , but at the end of the day, "she did her best", and that's all you can ask.
