To Upgrade or Not to Upgrade
Lesley on 2004/01/03:
„Especially since at some point I will probably want to add USB 2.0. I priced out a new Dell, which would be a P4 2.60 GHz (800 MHz front/side bus with hyperthreading), 512MB DDR RAM, DVD+RW, DVD-ROM, 80GB hard drive, 128MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 video card, and Audigy 2 Soundblaster card. It comes with 8 USB 2.0 ports (2 front/6 rear). I’d swap the firewire PCI card out of my old unit into this one and keep my 17” flat panel monitor.“

New Computer
estone on 2003/12/06:
„My first "PC-compatible" computer was one I built myself in about 1997, and I've been using that same computer ever since. Of course, over the years I've updated the processor, and the motherboard, and the memory, and the hard drive, and the video card, and the case, and the keyboard, and the mouse, added CD-RW and DVD drives, etc. In fact, the only original piece of equipment still left on the computer may be the 3.25" floppy drive, and I'm not too sure about that.“

More Christmas lust for Geeks (like me)...
Martin on 2003/12/02:
„They use the new MiniPC case format and add in instant on for FM, CD and MP3 playing (so you don't have to boot the PC part). You can buy the bare bones kit and add your own CPU, hard drive, video card, DVD player, speakers, etc.... It is a good platform to get into home theater and pc meets stereo very cheaply (and geekilly).“

Flexible Content
Andrew Grumet on 2003/11/16:
„It turned out to be trivially easy moving them directly from the TiVo to my laptop over the home LAN, but I have a pretty unusual setup. For most TiVo owners, the best bet would be to get a video capture card and pipe the TiVo's output to it, or perhaps invest in a DVD recorder .“
