Go buy a quad tuner Tivo for Fall TV!

[From the Misfiring Neurons of Chris Lim”¦.] Cause, Fall 2005 is going to be a hell of a TV ride. Ok, so there’s no such thing as a quad tuner Tivo. But trying to watch all the shows being pitched in fall is going to be tough with just a dual tuner Tivo. We have 3 and its still going to be tricky to watch 4 networks offerings.

[Figuring It Out] An Early Start: You see, I set the goal aggressively on Diet Power (2 lbs loss per week), and this gives me a much lower caloric base - very similar to what I have been eating on BFL anyway. However, it DOES make me eat up to 200 more on certain days than I have been. But it also brings my freeday down by about 800 calories LESS than I usually have, and my day off from exercising is extremely low - because I'm not earning tons of additional calories to bring it up. I'm not worried about this, because it makes sense that if you are not active that you shouldn't be stuffing yourself with excess you won't use that day.

Geoff Arnold: In another possible universe, the cosmological and physical constants are such that large dense bodies such as planets cannot form; instead, stars are surrunded by shells of gas. Stable patterns can form in this gas due to some resonance phenomenon, and over time self-replicating patterns emerge. Since this patterns can change, and gas resources are finite, Darwinian evolution will occur, and one may suppose that in time intelligence may arise. Such cloud-creatures might develop cosmology and physics, and may think to themselves, "How fortunate we are that the constants of the universe are so finely tuned.

Where is my ToGo TiVo?: Of course, since I at least knew someone with it I went over to try it out, and I'm not that impressed. Hopefully they'll find a way to make it work faster (it downloads in near-real time from the TiVo, aka 1 hour show takes 1+ hour to download). Plus for some reason on my machine at least I can't even fast forward or move around in the video stream when playing back a file.

TiVo Community - No HD audio on HDMI, SD audio OK!: Of course HDMI is and all digital interface. Therefore, the audio data being sent from the Tivo when watching SD is digital just as it is digital when it is coming from an HD channel and so the TV must have a digital audio decoder (notice I did not say dolby digital decoder). The Tivo manual says to hook up HDMI for audio and video. My TV manual says hook up HDMI for audio and video and shows a diagram of the same.

Heather's "Marketing and Finance at Microsoft" Blog : Good weekend...: The only thing that would have made it better is if it was hooked up before the NFL draft. I hung in there for about 4-5 hours before my dad came over to hook up the Tivo. And as a side note, let me just say that I thought the commentators covering the draft on ESPN were a little too kind to Eli Manning after the way he behaved (OK, it sounds funny to say “way he behaved” when talking about a football player, but drafts and award ceremonies are when football players need to leave their on-field ego behind). It will also be interesting to see if, given the Clarett ruling, Mike Williams will be allowed to enter a supplemental draft or if his NCAA eligibility will be reinstated.
