„So if Linux makes massive inroads on the desktop, does that help or hurt a company like Apple? IIRC, economic theory would say markets generally can support two competing standards: VHS vs DVD, CD vs cassette, etc. So would Apple be a 3rd standard (linux & windows being the other 2), or will it ride on top of Linux, as an uber-brand, or will it get creamed. Should be interesting.“

„IIRC, I went off to Case Western for a year and a half (Fall 1988-Fall1989), got suspended for a semester and started work at Kinko’s downtown while attending classes at UHD (Spring 1990), returned to Case for a semester (Fall 1990) before getting kicked out for good. I believe all 4 semesters I was at Case, I had fiber optic connection directly into the back of my Mac SE in my dorm room.
