New Computer

[Archived in Dvd Video Card, Entry]

New Computer estone on 2003/12/06:

„My first "PC-compatible" computer was one I built myself in about 1997, and I've been using that same computer ever since. Of course, over the years I've updated the processor, and the motherboard, and the memory, and the hard drive, and the video card, and the case, and the keyboard, and the mouse, added CD-RW and DVD drives, etc. In fact, the only original piece of equipment still left on the computer may be the 3.25" floppy drive, and I'm not too sure about that.“

Some slightly related:

MetalJoe's Amiga Comments

„Yet here is an almost complete AmigaOS clone built from scratch to bemulti-platform just itching for support - every new AmigaOS replacementproject takes away that potential support, and in the end you justfragment and dilute all the effort going on, probably to a point wherenothing is ultimately achieved except a series of half-finished ideas. If AROS can get this far with little support, it makes you wonder howmuch further down the road it could be with the right backing - doesn'tit?“

Flash Player 7 Public Beta

„I'm not about to write a treatise on it here but I'll give some basic guidelines: in general, CFCs should never reference shared scopes. There is really only one exception: a façade may manage instances of other CFCs stored in shared scopes (e.g., a façade may create and manipulate CFCs stored in session scope - to maintain state for Flash Remoting or in situations where you need or want to hide the stateful nature of the instances).“

Eric James Stone: November 30, 2003 - December 06, 2003 Archives

„I'm blogging from my old Pentium III 500Mhz computer (named Styrona, after the Everquest character I used to play from this computer.) My main computer (AMD 1200, named Styrogur) is in the shop at CompUSA, where they will attempt to recover the data from the hard drive and transfer it to a new computer that I bought (AMD Athlon XP 2800+, to be named later.) Unfortunately, it'll take them a week-and-a-half to two weeks.“

Scott's Quest to Build a Silent PC

„Compared to the overclocker's market, the quiet/silent PC marketplaceis microscopic.I put alot of research into trying to build a cheap, quiet PC.I found myself getting a bit compulsive, digging deeper to try to finda magic vendor to solve my problem on the cheap. I didn't find one,but perhaps you'll find the collection of hyperlinks useful.“
