Some slightly related:

[pPlayer] Stuck on the River: A loose call on the turn often sets up a player for future failure, when the pot has grown to a point where the hand becomes difficult to let go. I often see players make poor choices very early in a hand that eventually blossom into a full-fledged disaster on the river. At one point I've even overheard, "Well with all that money in there I would have kicked myself if I hadn't been able to see the last card." Ouch.

[Article Agents: Publish Articles Online For Free.] Poker Fever: Big blind with my jack-three off suit, I found myself able to see a free flop as the action was checked back to me. Typically, jack-three off suit is a hand I, or any other poker player with the slightest knowledge of the game would not even look twice at, but when the flop of communal cards comes out jack-eight-three, it is a very pleasant surprise. I checked the action, meaning that I did not bet, trying to slow play my two-pair. The action was checked around and the turn revealed yet another three, giving me a full house (three of a kind and two of a kind).

[Poker Tournaments ~ Online Poker Information & Gambling News] Poker is Top Card Game Among Students: As a result, my desktop is littered with Casino, and Poker site icons. Every month my inbox is full of monthly Poker site "Newsletters" with the latest poker promotions, poker tournaments and poker bonuses. In an effort to bankroll my efforts and earn a little extra cash, I have consolidated all of these Poker "Newsletters" into one site where you can surf right in and be more selective about which online poker rooms you download or avoid. Yes, this is an affiliate site that earns money when you click on my ads, but hopefully I have given you a value added service that will be worth the small amount that I get from your click-thru.

But once he's got his chops down cold, then he's free to become another Miles, Mingus, Monk, or Rollins -- or try to.

[Poker Perspectives-Maudie's Poker Blog] The Game's Afoot....: It is more than a little interesting to note that the fathers of Game Theory - Emile Borel and John von Neumann (Neumann is credited with the lion share of the development of Game Theory) both were inspired by poker - Game Theory came out of the desire to discover a winning gambling strategy. In poker, I suppose it's most applicable aspect is in the art of bluffing and changing gears in play. Poker being a zero sum game (when there is no rake), bluffing is a key strategy if one is to maximize one's gains and consistently see a profit. For a far more astute discussion of Game Theory in general and it's relation to bluffing, read what Lou Krieger has to say about it.
