[TV Squad] Wisteria Lane won't be seeing the Mary Kay pink cadillac anytime soon, because Christian groups protested the firm's plan to push it's products on the ABC series Desperate Housewives. Apparently, for Mary Kay, it's "God first...career third," so I don't see how they expected the Housewives gig to work, anyway.
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[Who Hijacked Our Country] Satan Drives a Ford: So that wickedness in my soul is because I drive a Ford Contour?!?!? Well, shoot - and here I thought I was simply "buying American"...but it's really because I want everyone to be Gay? (Well, actually I do, in terms of the original definition of the word but people don't want that either, so....)..I think my next car will have to be the Ford Hybrid Escape - then I'll be sure to be offending just about everyone.
[underzealous] American "Family" Association: The fight against Ford is just one of many it has going: As of Tuesday, it was calling for action against the Carl’s Jr. hamburger chain (to protest its racy new ad featuring Paris Hilton), Kraft Foods (for its sponsorship of the 2006 Gay Games), Mary Kay Cosmetics and Old Navy stores (for advertising on ABC’s prime-time soap opera “Desperate Housewives”) and NutriSystem Inc., the weight-loss company (for airing its own salacious TV ad).
[NewsBlog 5000 * Over 10,000 served and counting] Christian Group Boycotts Ford: As of Tuesday, it was calling for action against the Carls Jr. hamburger chain (to protest its racy new ad featuring Paris Hilton), Kraft Foods (sponsorship of the 2006 Gay Games), Mary Kay Cosmetics and Old Navy stores (for advertising on “Desperate Housewives”) and NutriSystem Inc., the weight-loss company (for airing salacious TV ad). If the AFA keeps boycotting companies such as these, its members will eventually die of hunger and malnutrition, and no one will care because they are ugly and wear bad clothes.
[The Hanscom Family Weblog] Oh, Swell!: The fight against Ford is just one of many it has going: As of Tuesday, it was calling for action against the Carls Jr. hamburger chain (to protest its racy new ad featuring Paris Hilton), Kraft Foods (for its sponsorship of the 2006 Gay Games), Mary Kay Cosmetics and Old Navy stores (for advertising on ABCs prime-time soap opera “Desperate Housewives”) and NutriSystem Inc., the weight-loss company (for airing its own salacious TV ad).
[Bigjim.org] BIGJIM.ORG » Blog Archive » Mary Kay Not for Desparate Housewives: American Family Association chairman Don Wildmon wondered how a company whose official philosophy is “God first, family second and career third” could align itself with a show that he says promotes infidelity, seduction and promiscuity. He urged Mary Kay consultants and customers to tell the company that they opposed a “Desperate Housewives” ad campaign.
[Tvsquad.com] TV Squad: But just when you thought being on the road was an escape from the "Fair and Balanced" commentary at Fox News, Sprint gives them the go ahead to provide news content for their mobile phones. As technology goes, I suppose this is rather cool: watch your stocks take a dive on your mobile phone TV, dial up your broker in a panic and rant like a little girl, take a photo of yourself, pre-jump, for posterity. Now our phones do everything!

[Adjab.com] AdJab: Wow, I did not know this: Mary Kay's "official philosophy is 'God first, family second, and career third.'" Providence's Eyewitness News reports [via TV Tattle] that Mary Kay was slated to do a little product placement on ABC's hit series Desperate Housewives, but a Christian group protested regarding all the sex, lies, and .sex. The firm agreed to stay out of the Housewives frey, and on the good side of their conservative demographic.
