„Nothing of excitement to write about today, as I spent most of it cleaning or having a mini-marathon of Buffy (the third season, courtesy of the DVD set from Santa last month). Also, I was re-arranging, in a rather embarassing attempt to situate the VCR and the DVD player such that I can reach them without getting up from the couch. This is a bad thing, especially considering that the freezing freezing FREEZING cold weather--weather where the condensation on the windows is FROZEN--has prevented much in the way of exercise.“

„They were ideal. Overcast skies, temps in the 50s, and a fairly flat course interspersed with a few gently rolling hills. While I PR'd (by all of 28 seconds!), I wasn't that happy with my time given it was just a hair under what I ran on the much tougher Big Sur course 3 weeks earlier. It was my kind of marathon -- moderate in size (just over 400 ran the full marathon), dedicated runners, well organized, and good fan support. The course mainly traverses residential neighborhoods with a few rural stretches here and there. The beginning is nice, running around the lake west of the state capitol building, and the end is even nicer -- a mile of straight downhill. Notable memories: Ease of parking (within a block of the start line in downtown Olympia), a deep massage after crossing the finish line without even having to wait in line (a first for me), and seeing Joan Samuelson (there to run the 20th anniversary of the first women's Olympic marathon trial that was run in Olympia; she's aged nicely -- ran a 1:27 half marathon!)“http://www-dcrp.ced.berkeley.edu/cervero/ running.htm - Cached
„A word about our accommodations: if you’re ever thinking of baseball in KC, you absolutely MUST stay here. The room we had was small, but clean and nice and had all the amenities a guy would need.
