TiVo/iTunes Media Center System

[Archived in Entry]

Skyzyx.com - Advocacy, Evangelism, and Propaganda for Web Standardshttp://www.skyzyx.com [Skyzyx.com - Advocacy, Evangelism, and Propaganda for Web Standards] An alternative method that I've tried out worked well since I have a PC and TiVo'd TV in my bedroom, and I have some 5.1 Surround speakers connected to my Windows XP machine. I launched iTunes, iSee iTunes, and Nicecast on my Powerbook. I broadcast a signal (via Nicecast) to iTunes on my PC, and had the audio play through my fancy speakers.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[MUSIC FROM MY LOFT] New Mix Vol. 5: Oh I nearly forgot thanks to all those who have been dropping by in the past couple of months, it seems like a long time but it's only been two months or so. I am trying to sort out something for those of you on dial-up as I said before I'll probably put the Nicecast streaming up on a permanent basis.

Sidesh0w.comhttp://sidesh0w.com [Sidesh0w.com] Remotely controlled iTunes | sidesh0w.com: I’ve tried Nicecast (since I had a similar problem, though it was an Xbox and not a PC), but it’s 40 bucks! And it’s way waaay over-featured.

Macworld.comhttp://www.macworld.com [Macworld.com] Macworld: Mac Gems: AirTunes for All: However, keep in mind that just like iTunes, there’s a slight delay between when a sound is produced by an application and when it’s played back by your AirPort Express, so don’t expect to watch a DVD on your computer while playing the audio back through your stereo. (Actually, this is possible, though not without glitches: The free MPlayer OS X and VLC media player have audio offset/de-sync features that let you manually sync the audio and video of a DVD; the Airfoil Help system provides details on setting this up.)

[Activitystory.typepad.com] ACTIVITYSTORY: Blog: Kelly, Miranda, Kim, and & I went to the live Show with No Name event at the Alamo on Saturday night, and I was sad to hear it was their last show ever.  Mostly it was a very satisfying retrospective that included several montages of favorite clips from the show interspersed with the funnier charlie/cinco interchanges and bits.  Most notable, however, a 12-yr old came on stage and did a few minutes' worth of filthy Bill Hicks jokes.

Methodshop.comhttp://www.methodshop.com [Methodshop.com] MethodShop: PC makers eye consumer electronics all over again: We've all seen the EQ setting in iTunes, but not many of us know exactly how to use it to its full potential. Rich Tozzoli, Senior Editor of Surround Professional Magazine breaks each equalizer slider down and helps you get the most out of your music.
