Wireless TiVo

[Archived in Entry, TiVo]

[Simply Kimberly] I set my TiVo up to connect to my wireless network at home last night. It is fantastic! Wireless TiVo means: 1. I can play the music on my computer on my television 2. I can view the pictures on my computer on my television 3. I can transfer TiVo recordings to my computer 4. I can burn said

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

ericd.nethttp://www.ericd.net [ericd.net] How Geeked Out Is Thy House?: Just curious, but I would consider my home pretty geeked out. Without going into a lot of detail, there is contact syncing across multiple devices and soon to be the same for a net-connected automobile, secure web access everywhere, TiVo with access from everywhere, wireless XBox Live, possible

http://kimee.blog-city.com [kimee.blog-city.com] My network is growing: « H » email link Well my wireless network was hacked into so I completely disconnected it.  Then as I was cleaning today I decided to hook up my brother's playstation to the network.  He's only been asking me for months.  So he is playing a game with a bunch of people & loving it.  Not sure how much work we are going to get done any more :)  So while I was waiting for food to arrive (I miss Mom!), I was programming TiVo.  Well we had messages.  One of the was blah, blah, blah networking.  My eyes perked up & I got the idea of wiring TiVo to my network :)  Well, that meant I had to get a wireless adapter for the TiVo.  That also meant that now I had to hook up the wireless back up.  Well my wireless network is now up & running.  So now I am going to tackle the Tivo unit.  Linksys is pretty good at tech support.  I hate that they are all in India though.  They don't even attempt to fake it like other companies.  I hate when they ask you something, you answer & they repeat it back to you & say thank you very much.  If I heard that one more time...  but I am back up.  My network is getting bigger & very diverse.  :)  I'm learning.

Byopvr.com[Byopvr.com] Build Your Own PVR :: Why Tivo When you can Freevo?: I think, although not a paying gig, this could be a good opportunity for someone (say a recent college grad or 3rd or 4th year undergrad) who likes to write and has an interest in tech to get some writing experience/samples on a pretty cool medium. Or just someone who likes the site, has free time, and wants to contribute/help out and get in the coveted byopvr "inner circle" ;D.

Radio.weblogs.com[Radio.weblogs.com] TiVo Changed my Life: I recently (May 1, 2003) installed the new Home Media Option, which allows a variety things if you have a home network.  I have a wireless network and so now I can have the TiVo use the high-speed wireless connection to get program information, instead of the pokey phone line.  The HMO also lets you do three cool things: (1) you can program your TiVo from the Internet, which is handy if you are away from home and realize that you wanted to set it to record a certain program; (2) it can be used to display photos that are on any computer that is on your home network, and (3) it can be used to play MP3s that are on any computer that is on your home network.  Finally, if you have 2 TiVos (and they both have to be Series 2 models) you can access programs that were recorded by one of the TiVos from the other.

Momathome.comhttp://www.momathome.com [Momathome.com] Tivo! - A View From Home: So hubby sees my blog and after laughing about it, tells me that of course he got the hint weeks ago (was I that obvious?) and was planning to pick one up this week. We were running errands yesterday and as patience is not a virtue of mine when it comes to technology, we stopped and picked up a 80 hour unit for a decent price. Not as cheap as the refurbished ones, but not bad for a new one I think.

[Pvr.blogs.com] How to setup a new TiVo without a phone | PVRblog: I headed over to CompUSA and from what I heard on this Website bought two USB-Ethernet adpaters the linksys USB 200M and the Belkin 5050 (each $40), just in case one or the other didn't work. More people seemed to have greater sucess with the Belkin, so I tried that first.Going through the noraml AV/cable connection, first, I then reset my Tivo by running the Demo, and unpluged it after about 8 minutues (you can check the time remaining on the demo via the remote). I then plugged in the Belkin while the TiVo was off and used a standard ethernet cable from my router to the adapter, then booted up the Tivo. It takes several minutes to "clean itself" and restart after a demo reset.

Pvrblog.com[Pvrblog.com] Linksys WUSB11 | PVRblog: I have tried 2 adapters wtih my 4.0 series 2 TiVo: a D-Link DWL-120+ and a Linksys Wireless-B WUSB11. Neither one is recognized by the DVR despite reversing the cords, restarting the system, etc. Has anyone had any luck with either of these newer adapters with TiVo?
